Day 1 Monday: Arrival in Yerevan – transfer to the selected hotel

Arrival in Yerevan – transfer to the selected hotel.

Day 2 Tuesday: Yerevan –Sardarapat –Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Sardarapat, visit to the memorial complex dedicated to the heroes of Sardarapat battle and the ethnographic museum in Sardarapat that has a rich exposition. It exhibits materials from many historical and ethnographic regions of Armenia, as well as archaeological materials from Neolithic to Medieval, various traditional handicrafts, exhibits of carpets and embroidery, modern Armenian decorative ceramics, and jewelry. Drive back to Yerevan. O/N in Yerevan

Day 3 Wednesday: Yerevan – Noravank – Tatev – Zorats Karer - Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive through the spectacular canyon between the red rocks toward Noravank Monastery (13th c.). Drive to Tatev Monastery, enjoying spectacular view of the scenery around, passing Davil’s bridge. View of recently constructed rope way – the longest in the world (5,7 km) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bloh1gfDtCQ.  Drive to Zorats Karer (Armenian Stonehenge). Drive back to Yerevan. O/N in Yerevan

Day 4 Thursay: Yerevan - Etchmiadzin – Zvartnots - Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Etchmiadzin, the spiritual and administrative center of Armenian Apostolic Church. Visit to Etchmiadzin Cathedral (4th c.), the museum, St. Hripsime’s Church (7th c.), ruins of Zvartnots temple (7th c.), (UNESCO World Heritage list 2000). Drive back to Yerevan. O/N in Yerevan.

Day 5 Friday: Yerevan –Haghpat -Sanahin -Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to the northern Armenia, the magical place of forested mountains and deep canyons. Visit to the masterpieces of Armenian medieval architecture - the Monastery complex Sanahin (9th – 12th cc.) and Haghpat (11th – 13th cc.), that are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List (2000). Drive back to Yerevan. O/N in Yerevan

Day 6 Saturday: Yerevan City tour

Breakfast at the hotel. City tour- Yerevan sightseeing including City center, Republic square, State University, City panorama, Mother Armenia Monument, Parliament, President’s Palace, Opera, Sports & Concert Complex. Visit to the Genocide Memorial, dedicated to the Victims of 1915 and the Genocide Museum.

 

 

Visit to Matenadaran (depository for ancient manuscripts, which collection is one of the biggest in the world). This outstanding collection includes manuscripts dating from 7th century and is widely appreciated by history and art amateurs and professionals.

 

 

Visit to Cascade complex, which is considered the modern art center of Yerevan, with art pieces displayed throughout the whole area: the boulevard and up the stairs, from top of which you can enjoy the panoramic view on the city and Mountain Ararat. Cascade is home to Cafesjan modern art museum. This place becomes even more charming in the evenings, when it is full of people, both locals and tourists from all over the world, enjoying the magic and the warmth of the capital. You will enjoy spending time in one of the cosy open-air cafes surrounded by beautiful sculptures, redolent flowers shining brightly with magic colors.  Visit to the ruins of Erebuni fortress, founded during the Urartian Kingdom by King Argishti in 782 BC and the Erebuni museum (1968) with Urartian period exhibits. Erebuni has been renamed into Yerevan since the 7th century A.D., when it was the capital of Armenia. O/N in Yerevan.

Day 7 Sunday: Tsakhkadzor - Lake Sevan – Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Tsakhkadzor town the magical place of forested mountains (means “gorge of flowers”), short walking tour around the small town. Opportunity to go up to the mountain peaks by rope way, where you will catch an unforgettable gorgeous panoramic view of this part of the world (optional, at extra charge 5$ per ticket for going up the first level and back). In winter Tsakhkadzor is a well-known ski resort with several levels of ropeways leading up the mountains. In summer it’s a pleasant place to spend the afternoon in nature and enjoy the sun. Visit Kecharis monastery. Drive to Sevan, one of the greatest high mountainous freshwater lakes of Eurasia, visit to Sevan Monastery (9th c.). Drive back to Yerevan. O/N in Yerevan

Day 8 Monday:Yerevan - Garni – Geghard -Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to the only remaining pagan temple in Armenia devoted to the God of Sun – Myrth, in Garni, built in 77 AD by King Trdat (Arshakid Dynasty). Photo stop at Charentc Arc. The temple is Greco-Roman style with characteristic pillars. It stands proudly on a rocky ridge with a deep canyon presenting a beautiful view. The temple was a summer residence for Arshakid dynasty. Visit to the ruins of Royal Palace and Royal bath-house nearby. Drive to the unique caved temple St. Geghard (12th -13th cc.), the name of which means “holy spear” in the honor of the long-preserved spear, the same spear that pierced the body of crucified Christ. It is now exhibited in the museum of Etchmiadzin Cathedral. Geghard Monastery is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list (2000). Drive back to Yerevan. O/N in Yerevan.

Day 9 Thusday: Free day in Yerevan

Option: Visit the Brandy Factory (tour +tasting of two kinds of Armenian brandy).

 

 

Visit to one of the city's museums. (National History Museum, House-Museum of Sergey Parajanov, National Art Gallery and others.
