TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1

Grand Hyatt

You will be met before immigration with a placard and escorted to the TAV prime Class Arrival Lounge where you enjoy Omani hospitality. Enjoy Hot or cold refreshments while the lounge executive completes the immigration formalities.  You are then escorted to the baggage hall and assisted with their baggage and custom formalities. 

Transfer from Muscat International Airport to Grand Hyatt.   

Overnight stay at Grand Hyatt.

Day 2

Muscat city

0830 Hrs: Muscat offers the visitor a unique opportunity to witness a modern commercial centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. Muscat with its natural harbour, means “Anchorage” & lies in a natural volcanic bowl.   Pickup from Grand Hyatt.   and proceed to visit the Grand Mosque ( Friday closed), highlight of the Muscat city. 

Completed in 2001, Grand Mosque is a beautiful building which looks modern but shows that modern craftsmen have retained the skills necessary to create this wonderful traditional environment. It is impossible not to take more and more pictures. The handmade carpets, the chandeliers, the ceiling of the great dome in the main prayer room are absolute 'must sees'.  Kindly note, ladies to be fully covered and to carry a head scarf and men should wear trousers.  

We proceed to Bait Al Zubair Museum is a brief introduction that traces Oman’s history and development. Drive along the waterfront Corniche visiting the bustling Muttrah Souq. We proceed for a photo stop to the magnificent Al Alam Palace, official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos flanked by the 16th century Portugese forts Mirani & Jalali.

Lunch at Mumtaz Mahal Indian specialty restaurant.

After lunch proceed back to the Hotel.

Proceed for a Dinner at Bait Luban (Arabic cuisine)

Day 3

Bahla Fort

0830 Hrs: After breakfast, we proceed to visit Jabrin, the finest of Oman’s Castles built in the late 17th century, which became a seat of Omani learning. The Castle displays the highest achievement in Omani ceiling painting & beautifully executed woodcarvings. 

After taking a Photo stop at the Bahla Fort, we proceed to Pottery village where you get a chance to work with the Omani artisans and can make your own pottery.  

Visit Misfah a pretty mountain village with stone dwellings still in existence. Proceed to Jebel Akhdar. 

Dinner and Overnight stay at Alila Resort (B L D) 

Day 4

Khanjars

0800 Hrs: Today we drive to the famous Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th century, and its Souq renowned for its Friday cattle auction, intricately hand-carved “Khanjars” (daggers) & ornamental silver jewellery. Proceed in an easterly direction for Sur, via Izki, Sinaw souk and Mudhaybi, the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and White Sea of sand and dunes rising up to 200 meters are also host to a variety of flora and fauna.

Enjoy Lunch at Al Sharqya Sands hotel.  

After Lunch, we further drive towards the dunes. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. Visit a Bedouin house in this wilderness. 

Check in at the Desert Nights camp. 

1700 Hrs: We proceed for a sunset camel safari for 1 ½ hours including soft drinks and light snacks. 

Return to the Camp for Dinner. 

Overnight stay at Desert Nights camp (B L D)

Desert Nights offers a comfortable desert setting 11 kilometres into the desert from Al Wasil in the Wahiba Sands region, just two hours drive away from Muscat. The rooms are set up as individual units in a Bedouin tent design with cement painted walls and canvas with screen tent shaped roof. Each unit offers a sitting room, bedroom, en suite bathroom and cosy sit-out with panoramic vistas across the golden sands. The bath has a standing shower with waterfall showerhead, hot and cold water and basic amenities. The camp has 24 double tented units and 2 Family units (sleeping 4). Each is beautifully decorated and offers electricity, air-conditioning, mini-fridge and tea and coffee facilities. Barbecue dinner around the camp fire, breakfast and a short camel ride on the camp grounds at sunset with dune-top snack and soft drinks are included. The property has a dining room, bar and a recreation room that offers board games, dart board, chess set and DVD's. Quad bike rides, dune drives, henna painting and more extensive camel rides are available for an additional cost. 

 

Day 5

Wadi Bani Khalid

0830 Hrs:  Pickup from Desert Nights camp and proceed to Wadi Bani Khalid. It comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. The Wadi has clear deep blue water. Visit the fish jetty and dhow factory. Visit the Sanseela Fort.  The ruins of Bibi Miriam’s Tomb can be seen at the village of Qalhat on coastal road to Muscat. Stop at Fins beach for a swim. 

Our next stop is the Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue green water at the bottom.

Day 6

Muscat International Airport

Transfer from Grand Hyatt. Muscat to Muscat International Airport for your international flight. After clearing the immigration /Customs formalities, relax at the TAV Lounge until you board the flight.
