Breakfast and early departure to Ouarzazate city, via Taroudant and Taliouine. Ouarzazate is a well-connected city in Morocco, perfectly designed for tourism. It lies in the southern part of the country and is by all standards a different city from most Moroccan cities — it is worth a visit, and many people are amazed by the marvellous and spiritual moments of life here before moving ahead to the virgin Sahara.
You can also visit the Atlas Film Studios that lie 6km outside Ouarzazate — a huge studio covering about 30,000m of desert, where movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars, and Gladiator have been filmed in part or in their entirety.
We continue our trip driving to the UNESCO heritage site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, one of the most exotic and best preserved kasbahs in the entire Atlas region. The market here is good for shopping, though you may find it a bit costlier than other parts of Morocco — the recently restored Artisans Cooperative is worth a visit. Ouarzazate is well known for its pottery and carpets, as well as its cultural splendour.
Check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in your hotel in Ouarzazate.
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart to Merzouga via Boulmane Dades, Tinghir and Rissani. Here we will have a chance again to see thousands of old kasbahs made of red mud and sometimes with straw, as we travel to join the desert. Alongside the way we will see numerous Berber villages — Skoura, Kalaat M’Gouna, Souk El-khemis de Dades, Boulmane Dades — before passing through Tinghir and Rissani and finally arriving at our guest house in Merzouga.
This trip begins at around 4pm (depending on when you arrive). The camels will be packed with food, blankets and everything else which we will need. The trek will start right into the desert, where it is completely secluded.
The camp is located beside a dune approximately 120 meters high, where you will be spending hours of fun sandboarding. During the first night, there will be a wonderful dinner around a campfire.
Before sunrise, you will be woken up to climb the sand dunes for sunrise’s fantastic photo opportunities. Before farewell Merzouga, we will make our way by camels back to hotel to have breakfast, take showers, and get ready to set off for Fez.
On our long way we will pass through Erfoud and Errachidia, enjoying the natural landscape of the Ziz Valley, stopping at some impressive natural viewpoints before continuing towards Midelt city.
We will go further to join the cedar forests and monkey troupes of Azrou, then the beautiful city of Ifrane, before we arrive in Fez and check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in your hotel in Fes.
The whole day is devoted to the city-sightseeing of Fez, the religious capital of Morocco. It was the capital of Morocco for more than 400 years altogether, home of the oldest university in the country and the leading cultural and religious centre. Fez is also home to the oldest and largest medieval city in the world, a city that is almost unchanged through the modern ages and still most definitely alive.
Visit the Attarine or Bou Anania Medersa, the Nejjarine fountain, the Moulay Idriss mausoleum and the outside of the Karaouine Mosque. In the afternoon, continue the visit of the souks and Fez Jdid. Dinner and overnight in your hotel in Fes.
After breakfast, you will begin your visit with the holy city of Moulay Idriss and the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis, then continue to Meknes to visit the Ismailian capital, famous for its 40km-long walls, the Bab Mansour, the Royal Stables and the Jewish quarter.
Departure to Rabat City for a tour of the capital city of Morocco: the Royal Palace (Mechouar), the Oudaya Kasbah, the Mohamed V Mausoleum and the Hassan Tower.
Then departure to Casablanca City, arriving in the evening for sightseeing — the central market, the Habous district, the Royal Palace, the Mohamed V square, the residential area of Anfa and the outside of the Hassan II mosque.
Our day finishes with continuation to Marrakech, a late check-in at the hotel, and dinner and overnight in your hotel in Marrakech.
Breakfast and followed by guided sightseeing tour of Marrakech, the second largest city in Morocco also known as the pearl of south. Today we will visit the 16th century Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and Koutoubia Minaret.
In the afternoon we will visit the Djemaa El Fna square, which by day is a market place but at night is a place of non-stop entertainment; this area is great for bargain hunt in the souks and handicraft shops of Marrakech. Dinner & Overnight in your hotel in Marrakech.
After breakfast, we depart to Essaouira, the Mogador Island. On the way to Essaouira City, visit the Cooperative Feminine, half an hour out of Essaouira — an escape from the norm, where the women make argan oil for sale using traditional methods of argan and almond oil extraction.
Continue to visit the Medina, a wonderful labyrinth of streets — this 18th-century fortified town was built with the principles of contemporary European military architecture in a North African context. At the Skala du Port, this active fishing port is pleasurably mesmerizing to watch as the fishing boats dock; you can even see wooden boats being made, with the Île de Mogador visible in the distance.
Visit the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah Museum, where anthropology and art unite in this quaint refurbished museum of regional art in a traditional house, showcasing weapons, instruments, carpets and historical photos of Essaouira.
