1- In Aswan, Egypt’s sunniest southern city and ancient frontier town, a favorite winter resort due its dry climate check into your Deluxe Nile Cruise Ship at noon. After lunch, sail the Nile to Elephantine Island on a Felucca sail boat for a view of the Nilometer, Lord Kitchner’s Botanical Garden return to the cruise for an evening of entertainment or relaxation.
After Breakfast tour the Aswan High Dam which was an engineering miracle when built in the 1960’s. Visit the granite quarries of the 1150 ton unfinished Obelisk and continue to Philae Temple dedicated to the Goddess Isis. See the various shrines, which include the temple for Hathor, the goddess of fertility, then sail to Kom-Ombo to see the Twin Temple of Sobek, the Crocodile God and Haroeris, the Good Doctor, which are surrounded by sugarcane fields. Interesting, sculptured walls show ancient surgical instruments and dental tools at those sites. Return to the ship for some relaxation or entertainment.
Enjoy the sights along the river’s edge near the palm trees, tropical plants, amber desert, and granite rocks as you sail for Edfu where you will take a horse drawn carriage to see the temple dedicated to the Ancient God Horus, the falcon headed God. Then return to the ship to enjoy lunch and continue to Esna and visit the temple of Khnum, the Egyptian Ram-headed creator god built during the Ptolomeic period, and walk through a Nubian village and small museum. Nearby is an early Christian Monastery built in the 4th Century A.D. Return to you ship and enjoy the entertainment and delicious cuisine on board as you sail to Luxor for overnight. In the evening, take an optional journey to view the Sound & Light Spectacular, which features words, light, and music to tell the story of the Magnificent Karnak Temple.
After an early breakfast visit the West bank where the sun sets on the City of the Dead, the Tombs of the Nobles and the Valley of the Kings and Queens.
After crossing the Nile to the Necropolis of Thebes, you will visit the Valley of the Kings, Queens, and the Nobles. There see the famous tomb of King Tut-Ankh-Amun, Ramses III & IV, Amenhotep II, Tuthmosis III and Nefertari and more. Then, continue to the Queen Hatshepsut Funerary Temple, the only woman to rule over Egypt, then the Ramesseum, and finally the Colossi of Memnon, which contain the statues, 19 meters high, that the Greeks named after Memnon, the legendary hero killed at the Trojan War. After lunch visit the East bank of the Nile, the city of the living, where sunrise greets the 100-acre Karnak Temple, truly a sight to behold. Visit the Luxor Museum and then go on to visit the Temple of Luxor built by two Pharaohs: Amenhotep III & Ramses II. This temple is dedicated to Amun-Ra.
Late afternoon, you will be transfer to Luxor airport for your flight back to Cairo.
